Several States Interested In New Hydrogen Initiative
Several States Interested In New Hydrogen Initiative
The U.S. plans to build 7 clean hydrogen hubs that will span across 16 states. Several states including Texas, Colorado, California, and others are vying to become hydrogen centers. This will result in a fundamental shift in goods, service, and energy sectors. Goldman Sachs estimates hydrogen production to become a $1 trillion industry. States have a newfound interest in hosting hydrogen hubs due to the U.S government’s proposed $7 billion investment for hydrogen hub development, construction, and operation. The funding will come from the bipartisan infrastructure bill. The goal is to create a domestic economy for low cost clean hydrogen. The hydrogen project is expected to bring thousands of jobs to the clean energy and manufacturing sectors. States are also eyeing other possible benefits of hydrogen hubs such as increasing their green energy capacity or putting hydrogen towards industrial uses. Whatever the case, several states are interested in being a part of the project. A downside to the project is that it will require large amounts of renewable energy on top of already being an expensive bet. The hydrogen hubs will span across 7 regions and 16 states.
