FieldAI Raises $405M to Develop AI Robot Brain
FieldAI, a fast-rising robotics startup backed by Bill Gates, has closed $405 million in new funding across two rounds, bringing its valuation to around $2 billion. The capital was secured from a powerful roster of investors, including Nvidia’s venture capital arm, Jeff Bezos’ family office, Khosla Ventures, Temasek, Intel Capital, and Prysm Capital. Previous supporters such as Gates Frontier and Samsung also participated, underscoring confidence in the company’s trajectory.
Founded just two years ago, FieldAI has quickly distinguished itself with its Field Foundation Models (FFMs)—AI systems designed from the ground up for robotics. Unlike repurposed vision or language models, FFMs are “physics-first”, meaning they are built to handle uncertainty, safety, and the physical constraints of real-world environments. This design enables robots to function without maps, GPS, or pre-set routes, a leap forward in true autonomy.
The company has drawn top talent from organizations such as DeepMind, Tesla Autopilot, SpaceX, NASA, and Amazon to develop its technology. The result is a versatile platform that can be deployed across quadrupeds, humanoids, wheeled systems, and even passenger-scale vehicles. Already, FieldAI robots are at work in energy, manufacturing, construction, logistics, and inspection across markets from Japan to Europe to the U.S. Learn more here.
